The intradermal suture is a particular type of cutaneous suture. The latter refers to the operation of sewing together two flaps of skin divided due to an operation or trauma, to promote healing that is as less traumatic and visible as possible.

Differences between absorbable and removable sutures

How stitches should be removed

For example, on the face they can be removed after 3-5 days, on the arms after 7-10 days, from 10 to 14 days for legs, torso, hands and feet, while between 7 and 10 days for the scalp.Finally, for the palms of the hands or feet the times are longer, from 14 to 21 days.
This operation must necessarily be carried out by a doctor, who will ensure that the wound has healed definitively before proceeding with the removal of the stitches.
In the case of staples, they must be removed one by one with specific pliers called staple removers.
In the case of a thread suture, the doctor takes one end of the same thread, cutting one of the threads that enter the skin, then proceeding to simply remove it.
Possible suture materials and differences
The different suturing methods also involve the use of different materials,such as synthetic materials, composed of a monofilament (a single thread, for the most minor wounds) or of various intertwined threads.
