A.F. Genital System Reagent

Reagents for indole and oxidase tests for use with A.F. Genital System.

A.F. Genital System Reagent is a kit containing Kovac's Reagent, Tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine Hydrochloride Reagent,
and Vaseline Oil necessary for the proper use of A.F. Genital System Reagent (ref. 74156), a system for the research, counting, and
antibiogram of pathogenic urogenital microorganisms.
KIT CONTENTS
• 1 vial with 10 ml of Kovac's Reagent.
• 2 plastic test tubes each containing 50 Oxidase Test Stick strips.
• 2 bottles with 50 ml of Vaseline Oil.
• 1 empty dropper bottle.
METHOD PRINCIPLE
Kovac's Reagent is used to perform the indole test in well 17-PRO.
Oxidase Test is used on the liquid taken from well 22-NES to confirm the presence of Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
Vaseline Oil is used to maintain a sufficiently anaerobic environment in all wells of the system, except for
6-TR/YE, 16-ESC, 17-PRO, 18-PSE, 20-STF, 21-STR, 22-NES, and 23-STG.
REAGENTS
• Kovac's Reagent: 5% p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (p/v) dissolved in a solution of 25% hydrochloric acid and 75% isobutyl alcohol.
• Oxidase Test Stick: paper strips impregnated with a 1% (p/v) aqueous solution of tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride formulated with stabilizing agents.
• Vaseline Oil: vaseline oil.
