Main features of Askina® DresSil Border

Askina® DresSil Border is indicated for the treatment of:

• Pressure ulcers


• Venous and arterial ulcers of the lower limbs

Structure of the dressing

1. Layer in contact with the wound

Made of medical silicone film, this layer features a special architecture of holes that allows the passage of exudate to the subsequent layer of polyurethane foam. The matrix of holes consists of:

• A central hole of 5 mm in diameter


• Six holes with a diameter of 3 mm

2. Intermediate layer

This layer consists of a hydrophilic absorbent hydrocellular structure made of polyurethane foam, which allows for high vertical absorption of exudate, without release under pressure. It ensures optimal management of the moist environment, preventing maceration of the wound edges.

3. Outer layer

The polyurethane film is impermeable to liquids and bacteria, but permeable to gases, allowing tissue transpiration, maintaining the right moist environment and promoting evaporation of excess fluids.

How to use

1. 
   Clean the wound with an appropriate solution (e.g., Prontosan® solution) following normal procedures.
   


2. Dry the perilesional skin.


3. 
   Select a dressing of suitable size to cover the surface of the wound, ensuring there is adequate space between the adhesive border and the edges of the wound.
   


4. 
   Remove the protective sheet and apply the adhesive side (silicone) to the wound.
   


5. Adhere the dressing to the wound.


6. 
   During removal, lift one edge of the dressing and remove it slowly.
