HEMO-AEROBIC CULTURING is an advanced diagnostic system designed for the isolation and culture of fastidious, aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms directly from venous blood samples. The system uses a highly nutritious liquid medium, Brain Heart Infusion Broth (B.H.I.) enriched with p-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) and Sodium polyanethol sulfonate (SPS), to ensure optimal growth of microorganisms. It is available in three variants: adult, pediatric and neonatal, to suit different clinical needs.

Principle of the Method:
The blood sample is collected using aseptic technique and inoculated into the culture bottle. The B.H.I. Broth culture medium contains essential nutrients such as amino acids, proteins and carbohydrates, which support the growth of fastidious microorganisms. PABA neutralizes the inhibitory effects of sulfonamides, while SPS prevents coagulation and inhibits phagocytosis, facilitating the isolation of sensitive bacteria.

Test Procedure:

1. 
   Inspect the bottle to verify the absence of contamination.
   


2. 
   Disinfect the rubber stopper after lifting the plastic overcap.
   


3. 
   Aseptically inoculate the blood into the bottle, which, thanks to the internal negative pressure, will automatically draw in the sample.
   


4. 
   Shake the bottle to mix the blood with the culture medium and incubate at 36 ± 1 °C.
   


5. 
   After incubation, perform subculture on selective media to isolate the microorganisms and confirm identification.
   

Sample Collection and Storage:
Blood samples must be collected aseptically and immediately inoculated into the bottles. If they cannot be processed right away, store at 10-25 °C.

Quality Control:
Each lot of HEMO-AEROBIC CULTURING is tested to ensure the growth capability of reference microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Candida albicans, and others.

Limitations and Warnings:
HEMO-AEROBIC CULTURING is effective for most microorganisms, but some particularly fastidious species may not grow. It is important to follow the instructions for use and not discard the bottles prematurely to avoid false negative results.

Waste Disposal:
After use, the bottles and used materials must be decontaminated and disposed of in accordance with local regulations for infectious waste.

Storage:
Store at 10-25 °C in the original packaging. Avoid exposure to heat sources and excessive temperature variations. The product is valid until the expiration date indicated on the label.
